Data Loss Prevention Policies
MTE has several automated Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies that are designed to prevent the accidental sharing of sensitive information outside of MTE. Some categories are as follows:
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Data
- Taxpayer ID Numbers
- Social Security Numbers
- Passport Numbers
- Health & Medial Information (HIPAA)
- Social Security Numbers
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Number
- Payment Card Industry (PCI)
- Credit Card Numbers
- Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)
- Credit Card Number
- Bank Account Number
- Taxpayer ID Numbers
- Social Security Numbers
- Other Sensitive Information
- SWIFT Codes (Financial account information)
If you try to email or share any of this type of information to an outside (non-MTE) account, you should receive an alert preventing that action. But, there are cases where you need to legitimately share (email, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc) documents with this data. Outlook will prevent you from sending the email and give an alert at the top of the email message. If there is a legitimate business reason for sharing this data, you can click [Override] and then complete the subsequent form. This will then allow the email to be sent.
Please be aware that these emails and overrides are logged and reviewed by IT.
